Library
Die Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur has an extensive
library, which is being steadily enlarged since 1992 and focuses on
photography, in particular towards the works held in the collection. In
addition to artists’ monographs and international exhibition cataloges
it also contains comprehensive information about the history of
photography, individual photographic fields and techniques. Research
materials such as university publications, newspaper articles and
historical sources are available.
Over 7,200 volumes, including more than 2.000 museum and exhibition catalogues and more than 700 auction
catalogues are stored in the library. In addition it contains 14,500
essays and articles and issues of 12 important photography journals.
A
collection of ca 900 volumes from August Sander’s private library were
purchased in 1992 with the support of REWE Zentralfinanz eG., and can
also be viewed.
Library Use
The library can only be used under supervision and books cannot be taken out on loan, but copies can be made.
Internet
access is available, you can also work on your own computer in our
rooms. Access is free, but charges will be made for copies.
